About AF Creative

Well, like my height, I will try to keep this short.

Before AF Creative
In 1997 I walked out of Coventry University with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design and straight into my first design job for a company called ‘Symbiosis’, as a junior designer. It was here that I started my career and got to work on some creative projects with some very good clients, such as Siemens Networks, the British Embassy in Paris, Golden Wonder, Transco BG and Joy Mining. After just over a year, I moved to London to further my personal experiences and career, working for various companies before freelancing where I had the opportunity to work with global brands such as Dell, Casio, Kodak, Lombard Finance, Natwest, B&Q and many more.

Then in 2003, I decided to have a break and travel around Australia. After seeing some of the wonders of Australia, I arrived in Perth in early 2004 and instantly fell in love with the city. It was here where I was given the opportunity to work at an advertising agency called Linc Integrated as a senior mac operator. In 2007 I moved to a company called Digital Ventures as a senior designer/art director and it was here I had the pleasure of working on multiple projects for ENJO, an environmentally friendly and natural cleaning solution brand.

AF Creative was born
In 2008 I founded AF Creative working on a few branding projects in my spare time. Also in 2008 Digital Ventures started to move in a different direction and it was in mid 2008 that I left and went on to work at Mindfield Brand Agency. It was here at Mindfield, as a senior designer that I really developed my philosophy and style. As well as getting to work with some great people, I also got to work with some renown national client brands; Wesfarmers, Alphawest, BWP Property Trust, Paladin Energy to name a few and I would like to say ‘thank you’ to Jaimie and Scott for those years.

In 2009 I was blessed with a beautiful daughter and my life was changed, not only because of the extra responsibility that comes with a child but because she has faced many challenges due to her prematurity and health issues. Even with all she’s been through, she still manages to be happy and smile and this has inspired me to be more positive and passionate about life. This passion came through in my love for photography; I always loved to take photos, mainly landscape, more of a hobby photographer, but as soon as I photographed my daughter, I decided to dedicate more time to photography and widen my field to more than landscapes.

In 2011, I left Mindfield, not only to freelance as a designer, but to dedicate more love & effort and time to AF Creative, but also to swap roles with my wife so she could go back to full time teaching and I could have the opportunity to spend some quality time with my daughter. For most of 2011 through to the end of 2013, more of my time was spent looking after my daughter and working in my ‘freetime’, but as she is a little older now, I have had more time to dedicate to growing AF Creative.

Then in 2014, my second daughter arrived, so I returned back to Mindfield full-time, where I have been working with AIM WA, South32, Horizon Power and many more.

So today, AF Creative is an evolving design and branding service, offering a wide range of services, this can be a photography shoot, typesetting, website design to an entire brand identity, small or large. AF Creative has also expanded its hours of operation from evenings and weekends to now 2 days a week on a Monday and Friday, whilst Tuesday to Thursday in the day, I work for The Australian Institute of Management WA, a non-for-profit organisation as a brand designer, where I maintain and develop the AIM WA brand.

I am so excited to see what is next for AF Creative, just how far I can take it and where it will go.
